If you’re an independent musician, you probably fall into one of 3 categories:
- You want a manager but can’t afford one
- You want a manager but can’t find one
- You don’t want a manager, but need some information on how to navigate the music industry
This is where a one-on-one consultation can benefit you. Insight, education, information, and more, all delivered in a one-on-one consultation setting specifically tailored to your current situation and stage of your career.
What’s a consultation?
A consultation is a set time during which we focus on helping you forward your career. Ask questions, request feedback or input, run ideas by an impartial ear (me), etc. The time is yours, and I’ll help out any way that I can.
The topics can include anything you’d like, but most artists tend to ask about touring, publishing, DIY vs. label, finding a booking agent, applying for funding, etc.
How do I know you’ll have the answer?
I can’t promise I’ll have all the answers, and certainly don’t claim to. That said, I’ve worked in virtually all areas of the industry, primarily helping independent musicians directly with almost every facet of their careers. I pride myself on keeping up with trends and opportunities, and I love being a life-long learner. So chances are I’ll have thoughts, information, and opinions on anything you ask, and if I don’t have an answer to one of your questions, I’ll gladly look it up and get back to you with what I find out.
What should I do to prepare?
The most important thing you can do is bring your questions and ideas. Like I say, the time is yours, so whatever you want to talk about is fine by me. If you want to bring funding applications, CD release plans, etc, feel free. You’ll hopefully find that an impartial and experienced outside ear/set of eyes can offer clarity and insight.
I specialize in clarifying the complexities of the industry, so I really mean it when I say that there is NO such thing as a stupid question. The basics are essential to success, and it helps everyone if you understand them.
Should I bring you a CD? Will you tell me if it’s good or not?
I don’t offer feedback on if your songs are “good” or not, and I won’t pass your CD along to any labels or media outlets as part of the service. That said, giving your music a listen would certainly help me give you better idea as to how to market it, based on your sound and genre. So, if you want to save yourself the cost, feel free to send me a link instead. Besides, I love music and I’m always up for hearing new stuff.
Can you make me famous?
No. I can only give you advice on how to succeed based on what I’ve seen work for others and the things I’ve learned in my experience.
What does it cost?
I provide this service free of charge. ***PLEASE NOTE: One-on-one consultations are temporarily unavailable, but will be back very soon!***
